Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) is a versatile and beneficial herb that has been cultivated for centuries for its medicinal properties, as well as its value in organic gardening. Known for its deep roots that mine nutrients from the soil, comfrey is often used as a dynamic accumulator, a plant that gathers minerals and nutrients from the subsoil and makes them available to other plants when its leaves are used as mulch or incorporated into compost. In addition to its role in permaculture, comfrey has a rich history of traditional medicinal use for various ailments.
